How to use Coupons on Palmpay (2 Simple Ways)

Palmpay is a fintech company in Nigeria that offers payment services through their mobile app.

Just like their competitor, Opay, Palmpay offers a lot of discounts for bill payments on their app via coupons.

Users could get free airtime and discounted fees on utilities and bills.

However, using coupons on Palmpay can be quite confusing, especially for new users on the app.

There is no clear indication how a coupon can be used on Palmpay until a user attempts to use a coupon on the app.

In my experience, I've discovered that there are two types of coupons on Palmpay, and you can only know what types of coupon you are using when you access the subsequent payment pages on the app after selecting a coupon.

The two types of coupons available on Palmpay are:

Discount Coupons: These coupons offer discounts on payments and bills made on the Palmpay app. Discount range between 5% to 20%.
Free Coupons: These coupons offer 100% discounts on payments and bills made on the Palmpay app.

How to Use a Coupon on Palmpay

To use a coupon on Palmpay, simply click on the rewards tab on the home page.

On the rewards page, click on the Coupons tab at the top right corner of the app interface.

On the Coupons page, you'll see a list of available coupons you can use to complete payment on the app. However, on this page, there's no way to know if a coupon is a discount coupon or a free coupon.

How to use a Free Coupon on Palmpay

I tried to use a coupon for airtime payment on Palmpay and I discovered on the subsequent payment page that it was a free coupon.

To know if a coupon is free, check on the amount options listed on the page. If you see 'Pay ₦0' under the amount, then it means that the coupon is a 100% discount or free coupon.

You can also confirm that on the final payment page.

The payment due will show zero Naira, the balance will have a tick mark, and the 'Confirm to Pay' button will be active.

Also, on the center of the page, you will the the number of coupons applied to that payment and the discounted amount (highlighted in yellow).

I clicked on the 'Confirm to Pay' button and was prompted to provide my Palmpay PIN. I did that and the airtime purchase was successful.

How to use a Discount Coupon on Palmpay

To use a discount coupon, click on any available coupon on the Coupons page, and proceed to the payments page.

On the payments page, you'll see a list of amounts to pay. Under each amount, you'll see a discount amount for that payment, which means that the discount coupon has been automatically applied.

This coupon can be applied to any kind of payment you want to make on the Palmpay app. From data purchase to DSTV bills, and even Sportybet.
